Medication Take Back Day Events Press Release
Naugatuck Valley Health District encourages residents to dispose of unneeded medications at upcoming Medication Take Back Events in Seymour and Derby
Naugatuck Valley Health District (NVHD) is pleased to announce and support two October Medication Take Back Events happening in the Valley! Aligned with the Drug Enforcement Agency’s (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, these events are being held in reflection of our joint commitment to safety and health by encouraging the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes as a measure of preventing medication misuse and opioid addiction from ever starting.
Any person can come and safely dispose of unused or unwanted medications with no questions asked!
- Drive up and place your car in park
- Drop off accepted medications (no questions asked!)
- Drive away
It’s that easy!

Homebound residents or individuals desiring to dispose of medication at home may call NVHD’s Naugatuck Valley Overdose Prevention & Education (NOPE) Program at 203-881-3255 x 103 and request a disposal pouch to safely discard pills, patches, and liquid in your home garbage without harming the environment or worrying about a person or animal accessing the medication (while supplies last).
